A series of modern, fit-for-purpose innovation hubs designed to facilitate new ways of working together in the primary sector
Seeds of change
The AgResearch Future Footprint Programme (FFP) involved the consolidation of science facilities and science groupings nationwide across the organisation’s four main campuses. Through modernisation of facilities and co-location of staff, the FFP aimed to improve AgResearch’s use of infrastructure and catalyse innovation in the sector.
A focused outcome, diversely delivered
Having been appointed as Property Workstream Programme Manager, our team provided leadership and delivery of the building and infrastructure changes required to achieve the overall vision of the FFP. In addition to our programme role we provided project management support and have completed the briefing and master planning for multi-party hub developments at three campuses. This necessitated a tailored process for each campus to suit the unique needs and timeframes of the partners involved.
Stakeholder engagement with multiple parties was key to the success of this project. We employed regular and appropriate communication methods to ensure briefs were robust, that they maximised potential, and achieved the FFP principles, within allowable budgets.
Points of interest
- This was a large capital programme of work encompassing multiple projects across multiple sites and geographic locations at varying stages of development. It also requires delivery of multiple procurement packages following Government Rules of Sourcing.
- Modernising science and office facilities from the 1950s–70s requires a significant change in organisational culture. We have put in place a change management and communications workstream to ensure the process is clear and embraced.
- The new build and refurbishment works will create state of the art facilities, including highly specialised and technically challenging laboratories, animal surgeries and glasshouses.
