Improving the performance of New Zealand’s primary sector by bringing together research, education and industry
Better together
The Lincoln University AgResearch Joint Facility represented the first stage of the Lincoln Hub Master Plan – an initiative to improve collaboration in the primary sector. The Joint Facility will see AgResearch, Lincoln University and Dairy NZ provided with new laboratories, offices and education spaces for over 700 staff in multiple buildings on the north east corner of the Lincoln University campus.
A partnership approach
Involved since early 2014, our team has helped to facilitate the entire process from bringing the five hub partners together, through completion of the master plan and into delivery of the first stage. We are engaged as project managers for the design and construction of the first stage, and to date we successfully navigated the project through submission of business case and concept, developed detailed design, and tender. The Joint Facility project has required extensive consultation with science users to deeply understand their needs, large scale decanting and relocation of staff, and delivery of multiple, concurrent builds within a live operating environment.
Points of interest
- The project has required working with multiple Crown Research Institutes and we have had to draw on our extensive experience in Government Rules of Sourcing for our procurement processes.
- Assistance with business case and objective mapping development was required to successfully support client funding.
- With science and office facilities dating back to 1950s - 70s, part of our challenge was to bring these in line with today’s best practice these while managing the significant organisational cultural change associated with modernisation.
