A unique and modern 4-bedroom home situated in a dramatic Queenstown landscape
An ambitious project
Designed by Fearon & Hay Architects, this 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom home is situated on the Preserve at Jack’s Point in Queenstown. Built on a rocky ledge with a cantilevered deck hanging out over a 4.5m drop, and coming in at a total floor area of 716m2, this project certainly had an ambitious vision.
Rising to the challenge
We were engaged to procure the contractors, administer consent applications and manage the construction, including variation and change management. Our team also managed the budget and were responsible for quality control, along with keeping an overview of the Code of Compliance and Guarantee & Warranties documentation.
The original project design was amended when issues arose with the previously obtained body-corporate design review approval . We took this opportunity to make further changes to better assist the budget, while still complying with Architect’s concept and the design guidelines for the Preserve.
Points of interest
- The build required us to break solid rock to create a basement plantroom.
- The original design had a Kingspan Roof, which was changed to include 40 tonnes of loose aggregate on the roof in accordance with design guidelines for the preserve.
- 7000 concrete blocks, 30 tonnes of reinforcing steel and 47 precast wall and floor panels totaling 20 tonnes were used in the construction phase.
