Sustainable solutions both for the staff and the site campus
Our role
Rubix are project managing a series of projects for the College as part of their property masterplan. Rubix led the staff housing project through a feasibility planning process to establish an appropriate level of density and amenity on the site, we are then managing the project through the design, consent, tendering and construction process.
Key challenges and priorities
King’s College are committed to providing high quality housing for their staff, this project includes the development of a group of sustainable homes on a site adjacent to the main College campus.
Due to the other developments being implemented on the King’s College campus, the need for staff housing in a short timeframe was identified. This drove a requirement for a fastrack timeline, and a necessity to complete the design and obtain the consents quickly. This was achieved whilst maintaining a focus on implementing cost effective, high quality and sustainable homes. To help make sure that the homes are as warm, dry and energy efficient as possible, they have been put through the Homestar rating system and have achieved a rating of 7.
Points of Interest
- There will be 13 homes developed on the site in 2 stages, with the first 8 houses planned for completion in mid 2021.
