A process to deliver vision and value for the projects, to ensure a successful future for students, teachers and the school environment.
Rangitoto College is the largest school in the country, with a roll in excess of 3,000. Rubix has been working with the College and the Ministry of Education since 2011 to provide Project Director, Project Management, Engineer to Contract and 10 Year Property Planning services.
A longstanding relationship
Our initial engagement in 2011 by MoE was for managing various multi-million dollar weathertightness remediation projects at the College and for improving the communication process and stakeholder relationships during project delivery at the College. We were then engaged to implement a project governance and reporting structure for the entire remediation programme of works. This led to Rubix being engaged to project manage all projects at the College including all 5YA projects.
Various projects over a period of time
The projects Rubix has successfully delivered at the College include the implementation of the school’s multi-year asset management plan projects, with a total value of over $8m, numerous weathertightness remediation projects including an auditorium and administration block upgrade ($5m+), Science block upgrade ($3m), English block upgrade ($3m), Gym upgrade ($1.5m) and various site wide upgrade works.
The challenges that arise are typically due to the extent of works required in an operational school. These projects have required careful logistical planning to ensure that the timing of works is coordinated, that students can be relocated to temporary accommodation at suitable times, and that contractor access is safe.
Points of interest
