A full refurbishment of The George’s exclusive Residence Annex, in a manner befitting the hotel’s impeccable standard
Three floors of luxury
The George is a multi award-winning luxury boutique hotel in Christchurch. Set adjacent to the main building is ‘The Residence’, a three-bedroom villa originally built in the 1950’s. Refurbishment involved restoring this character building to the highest possible standard, bringing guests a luxury accommodation experience with a distinct heritage feel.
Delivering character and comfort – fast
The client wished to preserve the history and character of the building while completely modernising the amenities on offer. Our scope of work entailed a comprehensive briefing process, design management, procurement, contractor management and regular communications.
Working within a highly compressed programme while navigating regulatory body negotiations and building consents required nimble thinking and quick decisions to be made. The refurbishment saw a slew of high-end features including the very latest IT and AV solutions, full insulation with triple-glazed windows, air-conditioning, underfloor bathroom heating, and a fully automated system capable of controlling heating, sound, lighting and curtains from a single remote control or wall touch-screen.
