Bringing vision and sustainable values to fruition
Rubix has worked closely with the private owner of this unique property to bring his vision to fruition in keeping with his sustainable values. Rubix has managed the overall procurement of consultants, design, Building and Resource consenting, value engineering and HomeStar certification process. We also completed drafting of the physical works contracts, negotiating the terms and conditions, evaluating and awarding the tenders, execution of the contract and providing advice to the client throughout.
The project involved development of 5 luxury short-stay accommodation cabins designed by Fearon Hay Architects. The cabins are located on a remote, steep green field site 20 mins drive from Queenstown. Working as Project Managers and advisor to the client, we completed the procurement of engineering disciplines, and managed the development of design for consent and construction.
This project is targeting a Homestar 7 certification rating, due to the clients' commitment to constructing a warm, comfortable, and luxurious accommodation offering alongside his desire to provide a sustainable product that fits in with the alpine environment the cabins are nestled within. The cabins are approximately $25,000 per square meter, due to high thermal performance, high architectural specification, small footprint, and challenging site conditions.
